drones drones drones

On Wednesday, the Navy conducted its first successful aerial refueling using an unmanned aircraft, or a drone. The X-47B drone was able to connect to the manned Omega K-707 and transport 4,000 pounds of fuel. The Navy hopes to continue technological development in the field of unmanned aircraft and eventually be able to have drones used in real combat and surveillance situations.
USA is the best and this story proves it. We are using our intellect of technology and our innovation to make more than the new iPhone 6. The Navy is saving lives by pushing toward more unmanned battle tactics, or simply helping avoid battle at all by using these drones for surveillance so any threat may be known about early enough to avoid it. There is definite controversy over drones however. Some say they are unreliable, unpredictable, and stealing good, hard-working military men and women’s jobs. FIRST OF ALL, no person is really that reliable and predictable. Look at the plane crash in the Alps that occurred a couple weeks ago. The pilot went berserk and he seemed perfectly sane. Yes, a drone could malfunction and crash, but a humans could make the same mistake and they have made the same mistake. That being said, I do believe in restrictions on how much drones should be allowed to do. No unmanned aircraft should ever be allowed to be responsible for the transportation of people. Now concerning the robbing the military faculty of their jobs, I think it is a good problem to have. Many people, along with myself, complain that these men and women are away from their families too long and are dying too fast. If finding a military job in the US becomes a problem, then more industries will be developed and other areas of potential explored. Even other divisions of the military could be improved if there are less personnel needed to fly jets to refuel and transport goods. All in all, DRONES DRONES DRONES!!!<3

THIS GUY

GET THE FACTS

Arizona police officer ran into Mario Valencia of 36 years on February 19th. A video of the situation was released and many claim police brutatilty while the Arizona Police Department claim the officer saved lives. Valencia was found walking down the street firing a stolen Walmart rifle into the air. Police claim they asked him to drop the gun many times.  Valencia is also being charged for robbing a 7-eleven, setting a church on fire, breaking and entering a home and stealing a car, and robbing a nearby Walmart.

OK, Mario is kind of crazy. The guy lit up a Church right after robbing a gas station in his underwear. I think the officer did the logical thing. Often when people accuse the police of using too much force to stop a situation they forget a number of things. First, read the entire story, including what happened before and after the incident and both sides. My man Mario was committing crimes all day long AND THEN was firing a gun while walking down the street. It wasn't one felony but an accumulation. Second, consider the environment. It was the middle of the day. Innocent people are awake and many are driving or perhaps taking a walk. If a person is strolling down the street with a rifle, something is going to have to be fun so citizens don’t panic. Third, look at the situation from both sides. As Mario, you might have just wanted to take a nice stroll down the street with your stolen rifle and that’s ok. But you also have to look at the officer’s point of view. There is a man with a gun. Yes, he could be perfectly stable mentally and calm and perhaps he’s just walking home. However, there is also the possibility that the fella is mentally unhealthy or just very angry and could take citizen hostage or straight up kill a citizen at any point. Ultimately, the poice are present to protect the people, so some action did need to take place.

THOSE RUSSIANS!

full story

On Tuesday, April 7th,  a Russian fighter jet intercepted a United States plane over the Baltic Sea. The U.S. plane’s crew said the fighter jet was performing unsafe and unprofessional maneuvers close to their plane. The Pentagon complained to the Russian military. The Russians claim the controversial fighter jet was sent in response to the U.S. plane flying straight towards Russia with its transponder off.

WELL, this is something that needs to be paid some attention. Unruly air violence could easily lead to an “accidental” death of either side, which would very quickly escalate into complete mayhem. So in order to stop this rowdy behavior, the United States and NATO needs to look at the situation in the eyes of Putin, Russia’s forceful and quite ambitious leader. Why would Putin want to make people hate him and his country even more? I believe he’s simply seeing how far he can go. He wants to see if anyone is going to challenge his country and if any real consequences will be imposed. The United States, along with NATO, have said that sanctions is the most effective strategy at this point. I agree with this statement very much. As a country that people look to for leadership and example, we need to keep things peaceful and not make a situation more than it really is. BUT, if those Russians keep messing with us, we will need to show them that there is a line that cannot be crossed without reperations.

Ernie Chambers, state senator for Nebraska for over 40 years, compared the police to ISIS two weeks ago during a hearing regarding a bill that would allow citizens to carry concealed weapons into bars and other places of alcohol. Chambers asked the bill's sponsor why people would want to carry hidden weapons to which the sponsor referred to the fear caused by ISIS's recent beheadings. Chambers then proceeded to accuse the police of "terrorizing us daily, and they get away with it" and stated regarding Alvin Lugod, an Omaha police officer who shot and killed a black man and was ruled innocent, "I would want to shoot him first and ask questions later". Chambers refused to apologize to the police, even after many  senators asked him nicely.

FRANKLY, this is completely and totally ridiculous. This guy represents Nebraska. I do not see in any way how it is responsible or acceptable to state that he, as a political role model for Nebraska, would shoot a police officer. What is he implying to his supporter? Let's all go buy guns and every time a police officer does anything controversial we could solve it with the pull of a trigger. And why stop with law enforcement? Call Katniss Everdeen because the 76th Hunger Games are coming to Nebraska! It's quite an impressive institution, built on Runza's and football, where occasionally one of the elected leaders decides to compare the protectors of the people, who by the way enforce the laws that he helps make, to a terrorist organization that takes it upon themselves to politely remove the heads of women and children. There are other ways to sneak onto the front page of the all prominent Omaha World Harold Mr. Ernie (is there actually a limit on how many times you can sue God?). Chambers later stated that he was simply making a point, but how can a leader of so many people say that he would take the life of a fellow citizen of these 50 states? Meanwhile, brave men and women are putting their lives at risk to protect the people of the USA because they respect the people and love this nation and would do anything to help keep the REAL ISIS off the streets of Omaha.
SO REALLY, Ernie Chambers needs to take a lesson from second grade and think before he speaks. If not, I think it may be time he gets a timeout.
